Description Of Property:
The Historic Garrison District is the 2-block area on Queen Street between Regent and York Streets, showcasing Fredericton’s history and culture. Originally established as a British Military Garrison in 1784, the Historic Garrison District is now a National Historic Site. The original Guard House, Soldiers’ Barracks (Barracks Square) and Officers’ Quarters (Officers’ Square) buildings are open for tours and have interpretive exhibits. Officers’ Square, once a British parade square and recreation area for soldiers and officers is now a Heritage & Festival Centre. Pick up the Historic Garrison District brochure at the Visitor Information Centre or anywhere within the Garrison.

Description Of Adventure:
A Day in a Soldiers Life - A Children's Day Adventure: "Enlist" and enjoy a 1-hour historical experience. Once you are signed up and issued a tunic, you will enjoy a tour of the Soldiers Barracks and Guard House, and be given drill instruction. Participants receive a photo & certificate. Daily at 1:30pm, $7. 460-2837

Description Of Activity:
'Under the Stars' Classic Film Series: Classic film screenings with stars like Boggie & Bacall. Short films & animations by NB filmmakers. Sunday evening at dusk (approx 9pm) Changing of the Guard: With a flash of scarlet and a skirl of pipes, history comes to life! See a re-enactment of the INfantry School Corp which was established here in 1884, the birth of the Canadian Army! (Mon-Thurs 11am&7pm, Fri, Sat & Sun 11am & 4pm) Guard House Theatre: Daily at 3pm Outdoor Summer Concert: Officers' Square: Tuesday & Thursday at 7:30pm. Showcasing some of New Brunswick's top performers! Outdoor Summer Concert: Main Street Amphitheatre: Wednesday at 7:30pm. Showcasing some of New Brunswick's top performers! Outdoor Summer Concert at the Guard House: Wednesday, 12pm. Showcasing some of New Brunswick's top performers! Lighthouse Music Series: Fridat at 7:30pm, Sunday at 3pm Storyteller Series: Wednesday at 7:30pm. Magical yarns spun by Fredericton's master storytellers. INFO FOR ALL: 460-2129

Description Of Tour:
Heritage Walking Tours: Daily at 10am, 2pm & 4pm. Costumed guides will entertain you with local history and folklore as they take you on a free walking tour by some of downtown Fredericton's historic sites. Self-guided Walking Tour: Pick up your booklets for self-guided walking tours at the City Hall Visitor Information Centre. Tours include: Historic Churches of Downtown Fredericton, Boss Gibson's Marysville - A 19th Centure Mill Town, Late Great Loyalists, Dr. Ivan Crowell's Tapestries & Downtown Attractions.
